For general use, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 offers a superior display with higher resolution and color accuracy, which is great for everyday tasks and media consumption. It's also more compact and has a premium build quality, making it an excellent portable option for professionals. However, it comes at a higher price point. On the other hand, the Dell Inspiron 14 7435 is a more budget-friendly choice with a versatile 2-in-1 design, allowing for tablet usage. It has a lower resolution screen but still provides good color coverage for general use. Its AMD Ryzen processor will handle everyday tasks well, though it may not be as powerful as the Surface Laptop's Intel Core Ultra for more demanding applications. For performance in gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning, the Surface Laptop 6's Intel Arc GPU will outperform the Dell's integrated Vega 8 graphics, offering better frame rates and rendering capabilities. The Dell, however, still offers decent performance for casual gaming and less intensive tasks. In terms of engineering tasks, the Surface Laptop 6's higher-end processor and dedicated GPU will provide faster computations and better performance in demanding software. The Dell's AMD Ryzen processor is capable, but the Surface Laptop will deliver more power for intensive engineering workloads. Consider the Surface Laptop 6 if you prioritize display quality, performance, and portability, and are willing to pay a premium for it. Opt for the Dell Inspiron 14 7435 if you're looking for a versatile, cost-effective option that still delivers solid general-use performance and the added flexibility of a 2-in-1 design. PCMag

Eric Grevstad | August 2023
"We see no shame in an economy laptop missing the four-star mark. Frankly, we considered giving the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 three-and-a-half stars for its low price, competitive performance, and long battery life. Unfortunately, working with a screen that can't deliver at least 300 nits of brightness is simply no fun to the point of detrimental. Still, if you're looking for a convertible laptop on a tight budget, it's worth keeping an eye on Dell's sales and discounts. That Lavender Blue model is fairly tempting."
