The Dell Inspiron 14 5425 offers better performance due to its higher-end processor and more RAM, making it suitable for intensive tasks and multitasking. It scores well for general use and engineering applications. Additionally, it boasts a slightly more compact form and lighter weight, increasing its portability. The battery life is longer, which could be beneficial for users on the go.
In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" comes at a lower price and features a larger screen, which could be more appealing for users prioritizing screen real estate over portability. It has a decent performance for general use, but less so for demanding tasks. The battery life is shorter, and its larger size and heavier weight make it less portable.
Both laptops have similar storage capacities and come with Windows 11 Home. Your choice should consider the importance of performance versus screen size, portability, and cost. If budget is a concern and a larger display is desired, the Lenovo IdeaPad may be suitable. However, for better overall performance and portability, the Dell Inspiron is the more capable option. How the Dell Inspiron 14 5425 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"A slim chassis, an acceptable weight (1.6 kg) and a real-world battery life of almost 13 hours turn the Inspiron into a mobile companion. Good: The battery can not only be charged using Dell's proprietary power adapter, but also with a universal USB-C power adapter (min. 45 watts). Office and Internet applications are handled by the built-in combination of Ryzen 5 5625U APU and 16 GB of RAM just as easily as modest computer games. Heat and noise development are generally okay, but the laptop should work a bit quieter under full load."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
