If you need top-tier performance for gaming or demanding tasks like 3D rendering or machine learning, the Dell Alienware would be a solid choice, though it's pricier and heavier, which could be a downside for frequent travel. The MSI GF63 Thin offers a more budget-friendly option with decent performance for general use and some gaming; it also benefits from being more lightweight and thus easier to carry around, but it won't handle intensive tasks as smoothly as the Alienware. Consider your most common use cases and whether portability or raw power is your priority when making your decision. Give Feedback

LaptopMag

Momo Tabari | January 2024
"Alienware’s m16 R2 is a solid gaming laptop that leaves much to be desired, particularly in its quest to fulfill your needs as a product for productivity. Battery life under eight hours and a dim display are both vital issues for something that will accompany you through school projects or a workday. However, the Alienware m16 R2 is an exceedingly powerful gaming laptop, consistently being one of the best in our performance tests when compared against similar products. Even then, its display is lacking color, its fans get pretty darn loud, and its speakers aren’t punchy enough to rise above that noise."

NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | January 2020
"If you leave aside the meagre port selection (no card reader, no DisplayPort, no Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1 Gen2), the fan control that could be improved (idle mode!) and the relatively dark and slow display, the MSI GF63 Thin 9SC does not have any major weaknesses. The 15-inch gamer is compact, has a low weight and offers a good price-to-performance ratio, which should please gamers that are looking for both a portable and an affordable gaming notebook. Input devices, battery life, case quality and performance are all appropriate for this purchase price."
