The ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED offers a vibrant OLED display with deep blacks and rich colors, making it excellent for media consumption and general use, though it falls short in color accuracy for professional photo editing. Its compact and lightweight design enhances portability, and the inclusion of a number pad and backlit keyboard adds convenience and functionality. With a lower midrange price, it provides good value for everyday tasks and casual gaming, but it may struggle with demanding engineering applications due to its less powerful GPU and limited thermal management.
In contrast, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 commands a high-end price but delivers superior performance with its powerful CPU and dedicated Nvidia GPU, catering well to engineering tasks, gaming, and machine learning. The larger, high-resolution touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio offers more vertical space for productivity and creative work, and the flexible hinge adds versatility for those who need a drawing tablet. It also boasts better color accuracy, crucial for professional photo editing. However, its portability is compromised by its heavier weight and larger size, and the battery life is shorter compared to the ASUS.
Ultimately, if portability, battery life, and a stunning display for general use are your priorities, and you're on a budget, the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED is the way to go. But if you need top-tier performance for demanding tasks, a versatile touchscreen for creative work, and are willing to pay a premium and carry more weight, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is the better choice. How the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 compare to other laptops
"The new Surface Laptop Studio with its foldable display is supposed to replace the old Surface Book and the overall impression is good after our review. The build quality and the materials are top-notch, the performance utilization of the two components is solid and the device does not show any major flaws in terms of display or speakers, either. The folding mechanism leaves a sold impression as well, but it remains to be seen how it will hold up over the years. The so-called presentation mode is also not ideal since it covers the whole keyboard."
