The ASUS Vivobook 16 is less expensive, has a larger 16-inch screen with a higher resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio for more vertical space, which might appeal to those who multitask or prefer a larger display for productivity. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 15, while more expensive, offers a dedicated Nvidia graphics card, which is better suited for tasks like 3D rendering and machine learning. It also features a higher battery capacity, which may translate to longer use between charges, and it's slightly lighter, thus more portable. Depending on your needs, you may prioritize the ASUS Vivobook if you're looking for a more affordable and larger-screen option for general use, or the MSI Prestige if you need stronger graphic performance and portability for more intensive tasks. The MSI Prestige 15 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, and engineering and design.
For general use, the ASUS Vivobook's display might be sufficient, but the MSI Prestige stands out with a higher resolution and brightness, enhancing visual clarity and comfort. Engineers and designers will favor the MSI Prestige for its wider color gamut coverage, offering more accurate color reproduction for professional work. However, both laptops fall short for gaming and 3D applications due to lower refresh rates, which compromises the smoothness and responsiveness critical in these areas.

The MSI Prestige 15 and ASUS Vivobook 16 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 has an integrated AMD Vega GPU which is less powerful than dedicated gaming GPUs, and both it and the MSI Prestige 15 have screens with only a 60Hz refresh rate, which is adequate but not ideal for smooth gaming and 3D graphics. The MSI Prestige 15, although better suited for gaming due to its dedicated Nvidia graphics, still shares the same refresh rate limitation, and while it may perform better than the ASUS in graphical tasks, the screen may not allow users to fully enjoy high frame rates in games.

The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its AMD Ryzen CPU and integrated Vega 8 graphics, delivers solid performance for engineering software and design work, complemented by a 16-inch screen that offers ample workspace but is slightly less portable. Meanwhile, the MSI Prestige 15 combines a capable Intel i5 processor with Nvidia's GTX 1650 Max-Q dedicated graphics, providing enhanced graphics performance for engineering and design applications and making it a good choice for those needing more graphic-intensive capabilities in a more portable form factor.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
