The ASUS Vivobook 16 and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 cater to different needs. The Vivobook 16 offers a larger screen with higher resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio for more vertical space, and longer battery life which is great for general use or non-intensive engineering. Conversely, the IdeaPad Gaming 3 has a higher refresh rate display and a dedicated graphics card, making it better suited for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning work. The IdeaPad is a bit heavier, so if portability is important to you, the lighter weight of the Vivobook might be preferable. Additionally, the Vivobook may cost slightly more but comes with more storage and RAM. Both have good quality keyboards, but the IdeaPad edges out with slightly higher scores in keyboard and speaker quality. If your work requires intensive graphics performance or gaming, the IdeaPad Gaming 3 is the better option, while for general productivity and portability, the ASUS Vivobook 16 is more suitable. The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the ASUS Vivobook 16 may offer a balance of resolution and brightness suitable for everyday tasks, but its panel type might not provide the wide viewing angles and vibrant colors some users expect. The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 likely provides a screen that stands out with higher brightness and superior resolution, enhancing experiences like video streaming and document editing. However, for engineering and design where color accuracy is crucial, neither laptop's screen might meet professional standards due to limited color gamut coverage, and for gaming or 3D work, both may fall short as the refresh rate, crucial for smooth motion, is not optimal for high-end gaming or 3D rendering.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 are both good for general use.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 offers a larger screen with a higher resolution and a more substantial battery, making it ideal for those prioritizing screen real estate and longevity away from power sources, although it's heavier and has less raw graphical performance compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, with its higher-powered dedicated graphics card and refreshed rates, could appeal to those looking for better gaming or creative task experiences, but you'll compromise slightly on screen size, battery capacity, and weight for that enhanced performance.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 and ASUS Vivobook 16 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 is equipped with an integrated AMD graphics unit and a standard refresh rate screen, which allows for basic gaming and 3D applications, but might not handle high-end games as smoothly as discrete graphics cards. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, with its Nvidia dedicated GPU and a higher refresh rate screen, offers an enhanced gaming and 3D experience, capable of more graphics-intensive tasks and smoother visuals.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is one of the most powerful RTX 3050 Ti laptops. If you disregard the mediocre quality of the case in terms of the material and workmanship, Lenovo has created a successful budget gaming laptop with the IdeaPad Gaming. Thanks to high TDPs and constant performance development, the Core i5-12500H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti are able to show their full power, while in contrast, the (mostly slower) competitors deliver a better battery life. However, hardly any of the alternative laptops are able to reach the image quality of the Gaming 3. Most of the competitors are left behind in terms of the color space and brightness."
