The ASUS Vivobook 16 is more expensive and offers a larger screen, higher screen resolution with better color accuracy and contrast, due to its IPS panel, and more powerful AMD processor which is suited for intensive engineering tasks, 3D work, or general multitasking. It also has more storage and memory, enhancing its capability to handle demanding applications. However, it is heavier, reducing its portability. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15", on the other hand, is lighter which makes it more portable, and its Intel i3 processor is suitable for general use like web browsing and document editing. It has less storage and memory which is reflected in its lower price point. The IdeaPad also has a lower quality TN panel with a smaller screen and lower resolution, which might not be ideal for tasks requiring high visual fidelity. If you need higher performance for demanding tasks and can handle less portability, go for the ASUS; if you prioritize portability and budget-friendly options for everyday tasks, the Lenovo might be a better fit. The ASUS Vivobook 16 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 offers better performance in gaming and 3D applications due to its superior integrated graphics (AMD Ryzen 7 7730U Vega 8) and an IPS display with higher resolution, compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 which has weaker integrated graphics (Intel i3-1115G4 Intel UHD Xe G4) and a lower-quality TN panel with less resolution. Both laptops have similar screen refresh rates, but the ASUS' better GPU and screen quality significantly affect gaming and 3D performance, while the Lenovo's lower-tier components result in poorer capability in these areas.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 offers a decent balance between resolution and panel type, which is why its screen quality is sufficient for general use and engineering tasks that don't heavily rely on precise colors, but the lack of high refresh rates and superior color gamuts makes it less ideal for gaming and 3D applications. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3's screen shortcomings in terms of resolution, panel quality, and brightness make it less suitable even for general use and unsuitable for engineering, design, or 3D tasks where clarity, color fidelity, and smooth visuals are crucial. Neither of these options are optimized for color-critical work or the high refresh rates preferred for gaming and 3D rendering, which suggests that users with these requirements might need to look at other models or make significant compromises on visual performance.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is an enduring office notebook with a powerful Ryzen APU. Lenovo's office all-rounder easily handles office and internet applications as well as modest games - the Ryzen 5 5625U APU and 16 GB of RAM make this possible. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The emission values are okay, but the noise emissions should be lower under medium to full load. The relatively light notebook (approx. 1.6 kg) achieves practical battery runtimes of about 10 to 11 hours."
