If price is a major factor for you, the ASUS Vivobook 15 is a more budget-friendly option. However, if you need higher performance for activities like gaming or intensive tasks, the MSI Thin GF63, while more expensive, would be a better fit. The MSI often offers a more powerful processor and superior graphics capabilities, making it suitable for demanding applications. On the other hand, if portability and battery life are more important for everyday use or general productivity tasks, the lighter design and possibly longer battery life of the ASUS Vivobook 15 may be more appealing. The MSI Thin GF63 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is poor.
The MSI Thin GF63 offers a superior gaming and 3D experience primarily due to its Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics card and a higher screen refresh rate of 144 Hz, providing smoother visuals during fast-paced action than the ASUS Vivobook 15, which comes with Intel UHD Graphics and a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. Additionally, the MSI's GPU supports advanced features such as hardware ray tracing and DLSS, further enhancing graphics quality and performance, while the ASUS lacks these capabilities.

The MSI Thin GF63 is good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 15 offers modest performance due to its Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics, suitable for less demanding engineering tasks, whereas the MSI Thin GF63 provides higher performance with an Intel i7 processor and dedicated Nvidia graphics, making it better for intensive engineering and design work. While the Vivobook is slightly lighter and thus more portable, the GF63's stronger CPU and GPU combination is more crucial for tasks such as 3D modeling and simulations, despite being a bit heavier and potentially having a slightly louder operating noise due to its more powerful hardware.

The MSI Thin GF63 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the ASUS Vivobook 15 and MSI Thin GF63 offer screens with adequate resolution and brightness, suitable for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming, but they may lack the vividness or clarity found in higher-end displays. In engineering and design, professionals need accurate color representation, and while these models provide a starting point, their limited color gamuts may not fully meet the needs for precision work that demands wider color ranges. For 3D and gaming, the importance of refresh rate is critical to provide a smooth experience, but these laptops’ lower refresh rates are less optimal, which, paired with only moderate resolution and panel quality, make them less ideal for these immersive, high-speed activities.

How the ASUS Vivobook 15 and the MSI Thin GF63 compare to other laptops
"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
"The MSI GF63 Thin 11SC can be an admirable value for gamers and power users on a minimal budget. For just $599 as reviewed in its base model, its Intel Core i5 H-class processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics perform much better than low-wattage CPUs and integrated graphics. That said, this is a light-class gaming laptop. Low scores in our demanding gaming benchmarks indicate using lower visual-quality settings will be required for playable performance."
