The ASUS Vivobook 15 is less expensive and offers a larger screen and a number pad on the keyboard which may be preferred for productivity tasks. However, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3, while more expensive, provides a higher resolution touchscreen display in a more portable form factor with longer battery life and overall better build quality. The Vivobook should suffice for general use at a lower cost, but for those who need a more portable laptop with better screen quality and battery life, possibly for more demanding applications like engineering tasks, the Surface Laptop Go 3 is a recommended option, albeit at a higher price point. The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 15 offers a fair experience for general use with its sizable screen and adequate RAM, though its battery life is shorter compared to the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3, which also has a smaller but higher-quality screen and is lighter, enhancing its portability for users who are often on-the-go; however, the Surface Laptop Go 3’s better screen quality and battery life contribute to its higher price point. While the ASUS model comes with less storage and a less powerful CPU, making it less suitable for more demanding tasks, it might appeal to users looking for a more budget-friendly option for everyday activities.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Vivobook's fair screen quality can be attributed to its adequate resolution and brightness, but which may not be as crisp and vibrant as the Surface Laptop Go 3, which offers a higher resolution and superior brightness for clearer and more comfortable viewing. In engineering and design, while both laptops have limited color gamut coverage, the Surface Laptop Go 3 likely has better color accuracy and range, making it more suitable for tasks where precise color representation is important. However, due to their underwhelming refresh rates, neither the Vivobook nor the Surface Laptop Go 3 are ideal for 3D applications and gaming, which require smooth motion and rapid refresh to render graphics effectively.

How the ASUS Vivobook 15 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 compare to other laptops
"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
"When it comes to affordably priced laptops, the numbers after the dollar sign are crucially important—more so than in any other price category. By increasing the starting price of its Laptop Go line by $200 and not changing much else, Microsoft irrevocably altered the calculus surrounding the decision of whether to buy the Surface Laptop Go 3. Sure, it has a newer processor and longer battery life, but don’t think for a second you’re not paying dearly for that extra RAM and SSD capacity at that new price."
