For general use with a focus on affordability and portability, the ASUS Vivobook 15 is the better option as it is less expensive, lighter, and carries a solid performance for everyday tasks. However, if higher performance in engineering, 3D rendering, machine learning, gaming, or any resource-intensive tasks is important for you and you're willing to invest more, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 with its superior processor, graphics card, and larger, higher resolution display suits your needs better, although it is heavier and less portable. Both laptops are not touchscreen but have backlit keyboards and are up-to-date with modern I/O ports. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" is very good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 is only fair.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" excels in general use largely due to its superior processor, double the RAM for multitasking, and a higher-resolution screen with better brightness and color accuracy, factors that contribute to a more responsive and visually pleasing experience; although it weighs slightly more, which affects portability, both laptops have good build quality and thermal performance. The ASUS Vivobook 15, with its basic i3 processor and lower RAM, is adequate for less demanding tasks and benefits from being lighter, yet its screen quality, lower battery capacity, and minimal storage hold it back from matching the Lenovo's performance for a diverse range of activities.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 15 has only a fair screen quality for general use and engineering due to its decent resolution and brightness but falls short in color range, which is crucial for precision in design work. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" offers a very good screen with higher resolution and brightness, providing crisp visuals for general tasks and the wide color gamut needed for professional engineering and design work. However, both laptops have screens with lower refresh rates, which is a disadvantage for 3D applications and gaming where smoother motion display is key.

"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
