The ASUS Vivobook 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" are similarly priced, making them both budget-friendly options. The ASUS Vivobook 15 is lighter and slightly more portable, but the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 has a larger battery capacity and a significantly longer battery life for extended use. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 also offers a much larger storage capacity, a touchscreen, and a higher screen brightness which could be beneficial for multimedia use. For general performance, both have comparable quality, but the Lenovo's AMD Ryzen 7 processor and integrated Vega 8 graphics provide better capabilities for more demanding tasks, such as engineering work, 3D rendering or machine learning, over the ASUS's Intel i3 processor with integrated UHD graphics. If needing a laptop with higher performance for intensive computing tasks and can accept a slight increase in weight, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 may be the better choice, while the ASUS Vivobook 15 would suit those prioritizing portability and general use. Both models offer a numeric keypad and a backlit keyboard, with the Lenovo also featuring a fingerprint reader for additional security. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the ASUS Vivobook 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 have displays with adequate resolution and brightness that provide a comfortable viewing experience for tasks like web browsing and document editing, but they may lack the vibrancy of higher-end panels. When it comes to engineering and design work, these laptops offer fair color accuracy, but professionals might find the color ranges limited compared to specialized monitors that cover wider gamuts, which are crucial for precise color work. As for gaming and 3D, both models fall short because they don't offer the high refresh rates preferred for smooth visuals in fast-paced games and animations, although their resolution and panel types are sufficient for casual use.

How the ASUS Vivobook 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" compare to other laptops
"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
