If you're primarily focused on saving money while still getting a solid general-use laptop, the ASUS Vivobook 15 is a suitable choice since it costs less than the HP Omen 16. The Vivobook will handle everyday tasks effectively, especially if you're using it for web browsing, light productivity work, and media consumption due to its lower-end components. However, if you need a machine for more intensive work like gaming, 3D modeling, engineering simulations, or video editing, the HP Omen 16 is built for high performance with better graphics and processing power, but it's heavier and significantly pricier. The Omen also offers a superior gaming experience with a faster screen refresh rate. Keep in mind that portability and battery life are typically better with the lighter and less power-demanding Vivobook, while the Omen's larger size and higher-spec hardware consume more battery. The HP Omen 16 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 15's screen offers adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and casual content consumption but lacks the broader color coverage needed for precision tasks like engineering and design. On the other hand, the HP Omen 16 provides both high resolution and brightness for sharp and clear visuals in daily use and sufficient color gamut for professional creative work, but like the Vivobook, it doesn't deliver the high refresh rates required for the smooth visuals desired in 3D applications and competitive gaming. For users prioritizing general computing and professional creative work, the HP Omen 16 is the better fit, while both laptops might fall short for those primarily interested in 3D gaming.

"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
