The ASUS Vivobook 14 is generally less expensive, lighter, and has a higher portability score, making it a good choice for general use and carrying around. However, if you need better performance for engineering tasks, 3D rendering, or machine learning, the MSI Prestige 15, with its more powerful processor, dedicated graphics, and double the RAM and storage, would be a better fit despite being more expensive and slightly heavier. The Prestige 15 also has a larger screen, longer battery life, and a better build quality, which might be important if you use your laptop extensively or depend on it for professional work. The MSI Prestige 15 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 14 has a capable processor and a fair amount of RAM which is adequate for general tasks, but the MSI Prestige 15 offers a more powerful processor and double the RAM, enhancing overall performance and multitasking capabilities. Additionally, the Prestige 15 comes with better screen quality, a larger battery, and dedicated graphics, which contributes to a smoother experience and longer work sessions without needing a power outlet, often justifying its higher cost and slightly less portability due to the increased weight.

The MSI Prestige 15 is good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The MSI Prestige 15 outperforms the ASUS Vivobook 14 for engineering and design thanks to its more powerful CPU, double the RAM, and a superior dedicated graphics card, which are crucial for intensive tasks and rendering. Additionally, its screen displays more accurate colors, but it's slightly heavier and larger, meaning it's not as portable as the lighter Vivobook 14, which may also be quieter and cooler with less advanced hardware.

The MSI Prestige 15 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
If you prioritize a vibrant display with sharp details for everyday tasks, the ASUS Vivobook 14 offers satisfactory visuals, but isn't as bright or crisp as the MSI Prestige 15, which delivers superior clarity and brightness essential for prolonged use and detailed work. For engineering and design purposes where color accuracy matters, the MSI Prestige 15 stands out with a wider color range, supporting more nuanced color work than the Vivobook 14. However, for gaming and 3D rendering, neither laptop excels due to their lower refresh rates, although both have satisfactory resolution and panel types for occasional use in these areas.

The MSI Prestige 15 and ASUS Vivobook 14 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 14 is less suitable for gaming and 3D because it uses an integrated GPU which is generally less powerful than discrete GPUs, as seen with the MSI Prestige 15 that includes a Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q, which is explicitly designed for better graphics performance. Furthermore, both laptops have the same screen refresh rate, which is a limiting factor for gaming, but the MSI's superior GPU will provide a noticeably better gaming and 3D experience despite this limitation.

How the ASUS Vivobook 14 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
