The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is very good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 14, with moderate RAM and an adequate processor, caters to basic tasks, yet the non-touch, standard resolution display and average battery life restrict its appeal for extended, versatile use. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 stands out with a high-end processor, substantial RAM, and a superior, high-resolution touchscreen, coupled with a longer battery life and unique hinge design for varied use, making it a more appropriate choice for demanding general use scenarios.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is good for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is better suited for gaming and 3D applications than the ASUS Vivobook 14, mainly because the Surface has a superior Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate. Whereas the Vivobook only has an integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and a standard refresh rate, the Surface not only boasts a powerful dedicated graphics card that is key for gaming and 3D but also provides a more fluid visual experience with its increased refresh rate, enhancing both gameplay and content creation.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 14's screen suffices for everyday tasks with its resolution and brightness, but may fall short for engineering due to limited color gamut coverage. The Surface Laptop Studio 2 offers a higher-quality display with better resolution, brightness, and wider color gamut, enhancing visual detail and color accuracy for professional design work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops' screens may disappoint due to lower refresh rates, affecting the smoothness of fast-paced visuals.

"The new Surface Laptop Studio with its foldable display is supposed to replace the old Surface Book and the overall impression is good after our review. The build quality and the materials are top-notch, the performance utilization of the two components is solid and the device does not show any major flaws in terms of display or speakers, either. The folding mechanism leaves a sold impression as well, but it remains to be seen how it will hold up over the years. The so-called presentation mode is also not ideal since it covers the whole keyboard."
