The ASUS Vivobook 14 offers portability with its smaller size and lighter weight, better for carrying around, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" provides a larger screen which might be better if you prefer a spacious display for multitasking or media consumption. Each laptop has its strengths: the Vivobook has a slightly better battery life and portability score, and the IdeaPad has a larger storage capacity. Both are similar in price and suit general use, like web browsing and office applications. If gaming or engineering tasks are important to you, neither laptop is specifically geared towards those; consider alternatives with dedicated graphics for more intensive use. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 14, with its fair screen resolution and brightness, provides an adequate viewing experience for everyday tasks but falls short when it comes to the vibrancy needed for engineering and the fast refresh rates required for smooth gaming and 3D applications. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a larger and brighter display that benefits general use and engineering tasks with better color representation but, like the ASUS, lacks the high refresh rate gamers and 3D designers usually seek. Both laptops don't fully satisfy the needs of gaming and 3D due to their poor refresh rates, but the IdeaPad edges ahead for engineering and general use due to its superior color accuracy and screen size.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" to be good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" outperforms the ASUS Vivobook 14 primarily due to its larger, brighter screen with superior color coverage, more storage space, and longer battery life, which is beneficial for general use. However, the Vivobook 14 is lighter and more portable, and both have equal RAM and capable processors for day-to-day tasks, but trade-offs include a smaller, less vibrant screen and reduced on-the-go usage time for the ASUS model.

How the ASUS Vivobook 14 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
