The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 and ASUS TUF Gaming A17 are both very good for general use, though the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is somewhat better.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A17, with a robust CPU and ample RAM, excels in demanding tasks like gaming and can handle multiple applications smoothly, but it's less portable and has a shorter battery life than some alternatives; the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 offers great CPU performance and RAM as well, but with an emphasis on screen quality and portability, making it better suited for business users who value a balance between performance and mobility. Both laptops have decent storage, keyboards, speakers, and manage heat and operating noise effectively, though these aspects are of secondary importance.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is only fair.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is equipped with a high-end GPU and a high screen refresh rate which are critical for smooth gaming and 3D application performance, making it a strong choice for those activities. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14, while offering a decent CPU and screen quality, doesn't match the ASUS in graphics power or refresh rate, hence is less suited for more demanding gaming and 3D tasks.

For general use, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14's higher resolution and brightness provide a sharper and more vibrant display, while its panel type allows for wider viewing angles compared to the ASUS TUF Gaming A17. In engineering and design tasks, the ThinkPad T14's color accuracy, covering a broader spectrum of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, ensures more precise color representation which is crucial for professional work. However, for 3D and gaming, the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 falls short due to its lower refresh rate, whereas the ThinkPad T14, despite also lacking a high refresh rate, maintains an edge in higher resolution and better panel technology.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 compare to other laptops
"There is one big question that needs an answer. Is the TUF Gaming A17 FA707 a better purchase than the ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)? Well, it depends. Undoubtedly, the Strix is the more premium product. Arguably the biggest advantage it has over its TUF fellow is in regards to the display. ASUS TUF Gaming A17 A707’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio."
"We like a lot about this laptop. It has many ports, with the inclusion of RJ45-Ethernet as a defining feature. WWAN is upgradable for maximum flexibility and the ThinkPad has many security functions. Working with the ThinkPad input devices is a lot of fun, and Lenovo puts in a serviceable Low Power panel. The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U delivers a great performance and does not drain the battery fast. Fan noise and temperatures are nothing special, but also far away from bad. With the user replaceable keyboard, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 has a special feature rarely present on most modern laptops."
