The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is more expensive but offers superior performance for gaming and engineering tasks due to its high-end processor and graphics card, with ample storage and a larger screen. It's also more suitable for intensive gaming but is heavier and has less battery life. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is more affordable, more portable because of its lighter weight and small screen, has a higher resolution display that's also a touchscreen, but it comes with less storage and is not as powerful, making it a better choice for general use rather than gaming or engineering. The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is very good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is good.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 boasts a more powerful CPU and higher RAM, providing better performance for demanding applications, and a larger screen which is beneficial for multitasking, though it sacrifices portability and has lower battery life compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro, which offers a lighter and thinner design for better mobility and a higher resolution display with better color coverage, making it suitable for media consumption but its processor may not handle intensive tasks as effectively as the ASUS. While both have ample RAM for general use, the IdeaPad's superior screen quality and portability might appeal to those valuing mobility and visual experience over raw performance and longer unplugged usage where the ASUS leads.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is good.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A17, with its higher-end AMD Ryzen CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, is better suited for demanding engineering and design tasks, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is more portable and has a higher resolution screen, but its Intel i5 CPU and integrated graphics may struggle with intensive tasks. The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro for software development, and content creation, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro stands out with a high-resolution, bright display that renders sharp images and text, making it ideal for day-to-day tasks, while the ASUS TUF Gaming A17's display doesn't shine as brightly, resulting in a less vibrant experience. When it comes to engineering and design, the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro offers superior color accuracy with a wider color gamut, crucial for precise visual work, but the TUF Gaming A17's display won’t reproduce colors as faithfully, which could be a drawback for professional design tasks. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the IdeaPad falls short because it lacks a high refresh rate, which is essential for smooth visuals in fast-paced scenarios, unlike gaming-oriented laptops that prioritize this feature.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro compare to other laptops
"There is one big question that needs an answer. Is the TUF Gaming A17 FA707 a better purchase than the ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)? Well, it depends. Undoubtedly, the Strix is the more premium product. Arguably the biggest advantage it has over its TUF fellow is in regards to the display. ASUS TUF Gaming A17 A707’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio."
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
