The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 offers higher performance for intensive tasks like gaming or engineering, thanks to a better processor and graphics card, and it comes with more storage space. However, it's heavier and bulkier, less portable, and generally more expensive than the Gigabyte A5. The A17 also has a larger screen but offers lower battery life. In contrast, the A5 is more lightweight and budget-friendly, which might be suitable for general use and moderate gaming, but it has a smaller storage capacity and less powerful hardware which might not be as good for demanding applications. Both have solid build quality and feature backlit keyboards, but if portability and price are key factors, the A5 could be the better choice, while if performance and larger display are priorities, the A17 would be more suitable. The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte A5 for software development, and content creation, while the Gigabyte A5 has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A17's screen may lack the high brightness and resolution desired for vivid and crisp imagery in general use, and its limited color gamut could lead to less accurate color representation crucial for engineering and design tasks. On the other hand, the Gigabyte A5's better screen quality enhances general use with superior resolution and brightness, as well as providing a wider color gamut for more precise color work in engineering and design. However, for gaming and 3D activities where refresh rate reigns supreme, both laptops fall short, as neither offers the high refresh rate needed for the smooth visuals preferred by gamers and professionals working with 3D graphics.

"There is one big question that needs an answer. Is the TUF Gaming A17 FA707 a better purchase than the ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)? Well, it depends. Undoubtedly, the Strix is the more premium product. Arguably the biggest advantage it has over its TUF fellow is in regards to the display. ASUS TUF Gaming A17 A707’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio."
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
