The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 is a good choice if you prefer a laptop with a longer battery life and a higher refresh rate display, which is beneficial for gaming and generally smoother visuals. It has a large screen and ample performance for gaming or engineering tasks. The MSI Katana 15, on the other hand, offers a more powerful GPU suitable for intensive 3D tasks, has a higher quality keyboard, and might edge out in general fan noise and heat management. However, it falls short in battery life compared to the ASUS. Ultimately, if battery life and a slightly larger screen for multitasking are important to you, go with the ASUS, but if better GPU performance for demanding applications is a priority, consider the MSI. The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has a better screen than the MSI Katana 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 offers a pleasing visual experience for general and engineering use due to its adequate resolution, brightness, and satisfactory coverage of color gamuts, ensuring that images and project details are crisp and colors are accurate. Despite these qualities, its lower refresh rate detracts from the gaming and 3D experience where smooth motion is crucial. Conversely, the MSI Katana 15 provides an acceptable display for both day-to-day tasks and engineering software, but it doesn't stand out in any particular area, and like the ASUS, it falls short for gaming and 3D due to a less than ideal refresh rate.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the MSI Katana 15 compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
