The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 is better suited for gaming and engineering tasks, as it has a powerful processor and dedicated graphics card, along with a larger screen and higher refresh rate, but comes with slightly higher price and weight. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 is more portable, offers a touchscreen, and is more affordable but is less capable for intensive tasks due to a less powerful processor and integrated graphics, making it more suitable for general use and light productivity tasks. The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, a laptop like the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 with a high-resolution display and bright panel offers sharp images and comfortable viewing, which is why it's considered to have good screen quality. In engineering and design, both the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 might not cover wider color gamuts fully, making them less ideal for color-critical work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, they fall short as their lower refresh rates do not provide the smooth motion and quick response times preferred for these activities.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3 compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
"When it comes to affordably priced laptops, the numbers after the dollar sign are crucially important—more so than in any other price category. By increasing the starting price of its Laptop Go line by $200 and not changing much else, Microsoft irrevocably altered the calculus surrounding the decision of whether to buy the Surface Laptop Go 3. Sure, it has a newer processor and longer battery life, but don’t think for a second you’re not paying dearly for that extra RAM and SSD capacity at that new price."
