The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 is generally less expensive and provides better battery life; it's a good option if you value longer unplugged usage and a lighter wallet. It offers a 16-inch display with a higher refresh rate and a higher pixel density, which may be appealing if you enjoy crisp visuals or faster screen responses for gaming or video editing. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 5 17" has a larger 17.3-inch screen for those who prefer bigger displays for productivity or entertainment, but this comes at the cost of heavier weight and shorter battery life. The Legion also has a higher quality keyboard, which can be a significant factor for those who type a lot. Both laptops offer similar performance capabilities, so your decision might hinge on whether you prioritize screen size and keyboard feel from the Lenovo, or better portability and battery performance from the ASUS, along with their price differences. The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion 5 17" for gaming and AI, software development, and content creation.
For general use, both the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Lenovo Legion 5 17" offer screens with ample resolution and brightness that make everyday tasks like browsing and document editing pleasing, but the panel types are better suited for work than play. Engineering and design professionals will appreciate their wide color gamuts, ensuring accurate color reproduction which is crucial for detailed and color-critical work. However, gamers and those engaged in 3D work may find the refresh rates on both laptops limiting, as smoother motion rendering found in higher refresh rate displays enhances the visual fluidity necessary for immersive gaming and dynamic 3D modeling.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Lenovo Legion 5 17" compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 17 is a current-gen 17-inch gaming laptop and equipped with the latest AMD CPU and a powerful GPU, that manages to reach its full potential. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a very good choice for this laptop and able to maintain its performance level for long periods of time. Our test model only falls behind consistently in a direct comparison with its competitors that are often equipped with eight cores and 16 threads. Despite this, the Legion 5 17 leaves an excellent impression and is almost able to keep up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU in synthetic benchmarks."
