The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a top-tier gaming laptop with exceptional performance for intensive tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning, thanks to its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor and Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics. Its 240Hz refresh rate and high-quality IPS display with 2560 x 1440 resolution make it ideal for fast-paced gaming and detailed visual work. However, it's heavier and less portable, with a bulkier design and shorter battery life, which might not be ideal if you need to carry it around frequently. On the other hand, the HP Omen 17 offers a more balanced approach. It's significantly less expensive while still providing robust performance with an Intel i7-13700HX processor and Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics, which are slightly less powerful than the Asus but still excellent for most gaming and creative tasks. The Omen 17 has a lower refresh rate of 165Hz, which is still great for gaming, and the same high-resolution display. It's also slightly more portable and has a better battery life, making it a more practical choice for those who need to work on the go. Additionally, it has a more versatile selection of ports, including an HDMI port and more USB-C options. In summary, if you prioritize ultimate performance and don't mind a heavier, less portable laptop, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is the way to go. However, if you want a balance of performance, portability, and battery life at a more accessible price point, the HP Omen 17 is the better choice. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Marc Herter | September 2022
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
