The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a top-tier gaming laptop with exceptional performance for intensive tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning, thanks to its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor and Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics. Its 17.3-inch IPS display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate is ideal for fast-paced motion and engineering work, though it's not a touchscreen. It's also equipped with a robust cooling system to manage heat during intense gaming sessions. However, its larger size and weight make it less portable, and it comes with a high-end price tag. On the other hand, the HP Omen 15 offers a more balanced approach, suitable for general use and gaming, with a midrange price that's easier on the wallet. It features a capable AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor and Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics, which deliver solid performance for most tasks and some gaming. The 15.6-inch IPS screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution is good for everyday use, and the laptop is more compact and lighter, making it a better choice for those who need to move around frequently. Its battery life is also longer, providing more typical usage time on a single charge compared to the Asus. In summary, if you prioritize ultimate performance and don't mind a heavier, less portable laptop, and are willing to pay a premium for it, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is the way to go. However, if you're looking for a more affordable and portable option that still offers good gaming and general use capabilities, the HP Omen 15 is a strong contender. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | January 2021
"We consider around 1,260 Euros (~$1530) for a Ryzen 7 4800H, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to be a good offer that appeals to price-conscious gamers. Very high details are rarely a problem in the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Buyers will also be spoiled with a top-notch battery life that even beats most other notebook classes. If HP now improves the speed of the WLAN module, the stability of the case and the repeatedly criticized picture quality, the competition will have to dress extra warmly."
