If performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming is essential and you're willing to invest more, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 offers superior power but is less portable and has a shorter battery life. However, if you prefer something more affordable, lightweight, and with a longer battery life for general use or less demanding engineering tasks, the MSI Thin GF63 would be a good choice, though it won't match the ASUS in terms of raw performance and may struggle with more intensive applications. NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | May 2021
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."

Tom's Hardware

Charles Jeffries | November 2022
"The MSI GF63 Thin 11SC can be an admirable value for gamers and power users on a minimal budget. For just $599 as reviewed in its base model, its Intel Core i5 H-class processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics perform much better than low-wattage CPUs and integrated graphics. That said, this is a light-class gaming laptop. Low scores in our demanding gaming benchmarks indicate using lower visual-quality settings will be required for playable performance."
