For high-performance tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 is the better option with its powerful processor, high-end graphics card, and fast refresh rate display. Its larger size and higher weight affect portability and battery life compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, which is lighter and offers longer battery life on typical use, making it suited for general use and ideal for carrying around. The Lenovo is also more affordable, but with its moderate processor and integrated graphics, it is not designed for intensive tasks. Choose the ASUS if performance is a priority and the Lenovo for budget-friendliness and portability in everyday tasks. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17's high resolution and brightness offer a clear and vivid experience, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 offers adequate clarity and visibility with slightly lower brightness and resolution. Regarding engineering and design tasks, the ASUS benefits from wider color gamut coverage that translates to more accurate color representation, which is crucial, while the Lenovo provides satisfactory color accuracy, but not as fine-tuned for professional work. However, the ASUS falls short for gaming and 3D because it lacks a high refresh rate, making fast-moving images less smooth compared to laptops designed with a focus on such activities.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
