The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 offers high performance suitable for intensive 3D rendering, gaming, and engineering work but is more expensive, less portable, and has a shorter battery life compared to the HP Envy x360 15. On the other hand, the Envy is more affordable, offers better battery life, and is much lighter for easier portability, but it provides lower performance and is not ideal for demanding graphical tasks. If your priority is performance for heavy tasks and gaming, the ASUS might be your choice, but if you prefer something for general use with good portability and value, consider the HP Envy. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 has a better screen than the HP Envy x360 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17's higher resolution and brightness provide clear and vivid visuals, while the HP Envy x360 15" offers decent clarity but isn't as bright. In engineering and design, the ASUS's wider color gamut accurately reproduces a broader spectrum of colors essential for detailed work, outperforming the HP Envy's more limited color range. However, for 3D and gaming, the lower refresh rate of the ASUS results in less fluid motion compared to laptops designed with higher refresh rates, despite its good resolution and panel type.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 and the HP Envy x360 15" compare to other laptops
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
