The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 offers a high refresh rate display and solid performance for both gaming and engineering tasks, with ample storage and memory. It has a competent processor and graphics card but may come at a slightly higher price. The Gigabyte Aorus 17H, conversely, tends to have a lower price and includes a more powerful graphics card, which may deliver better performance in 3D rendering and intensive gaming. Both laptops are not the most portable due to their size but the Gigabyte model is slightly lighter. Battery life is moderate, and both should handle general use well. If you prioritize gaming performance and want to save a bit, the Aorus 17H could be a better fit, whereas the ROG Strix Scar 17 might appeal more for its balance between performance and slightly better general use and engineering capabilities. Allen Ngo | May 2021
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."

"Overall though, it’s *lots of swearing* fast, seriously. For work, rendering, gaming, it doesn’t matter, this is a true weapon of performance that’s going to run rings around most high-end desktop systems. If you absolutely have to game at ultra-high refresh rates on the go (but within thinking distance of a plug socket), this is the ticket. I can’t see such an extreme being that appealing to everyone, but if you take your gaming seriously, or even professionally, there’s nothing else out there that comes close that you can still fit in your backpack and travel with."
