The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is a higher-priced, high-performance laptop suitable for intensive gaming, 3D modeling, and engineering tasks, with a powerful Intel i9 processor and Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. However, it's less portable due to its larger size and weight. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is more budget-friendly, significantly lighter, and more suited for general use with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor and integrated Vega 6 graphics. It's more portable but less capable for demanding tasks and gaming. If you prioritize gaming and performance, choose the ASUS, but for everyday tasks and better portability, the Lenovo is preferable. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 are both good for general use, though the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 features a superior CPU and more RAM which greatly enhances its performance for general use compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, which has a modest processor and less memory; however, the ASUS laptop's heavier weight and shorter battery life make it less portable and offer less usage time away from a power source than the lighter Lenovo with longer battery life. The ASUS also boasts a high refresh rate screen and superior keyboard which improve visual experience and typing, but these features along with its gaming-oriented design might not appeal to all users whereas the Lenovo provides a simpler design, sufficient for everyday tasks, and better heat management contributing to comfort during extended use.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is poor.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 provides a high-end gaming experience with its powerful Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics card and a screen that refreshes 300 times per second, enabling smoother gameplay and better performance in 3D rendering and gaming tasks. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 features an integrated AMD Ryzen Vega 6 graphics solution and a standard refresh rate screen, making it less suited for high-end gaming and intensive 3D work, but potentially more affordable and sufficient for casual use.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 stands out in engineering and design due to its high-end Intel i9 processor, copious RAM, and powerful Nvidia RTX GPU, making it well-suited for demanding tasks, but its bulkiness and lower battery life impact portability. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, with its modest AMD Ryzen 3 processor and GPU, delivers sufficient performance for basic engineering and design tasks and offers better portability due to its lighter weight and longer battery life.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 offers superior color accuracy and wider color gamuts, which are crucial for engineering and design tasks that require precise colors, but its refresh rate might not be high enough for the smoothest gaming or 3D rendering experience. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 provides an adequate display for everyday tasks and some design work, but its color range and lower brightness affect its ability to display vibrant and accurate colors. As gaming and 3D modeling heavily rely on fast refresh rates for smooth visuals, neither laptop is ideal, albeit for tasks that prioritize color over movement, the ASUS has a clear advantage.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
