If you prioritize high-end gaming or demanding tasks like video editing, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 offers superior performance but at a higher price point and with less portability. On the other hand, the HP Spectre x360 14 provides versatility and better battery life, suited for everyday use and travel-friendly needs, at a more affordable cost. If your work involves 3D modeling or machine learning, the ASUS will handle these tasks more efficiently, but for general use or if you're mostly working on the go, the HP Spectre's lightweight design and longer battery life would be more convenient. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a better screen than the HP Spectre x360 14 for gaming and AI, while the HP Spectre x360 14 has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 offers a good balance for general use and engineering design due to its high resolution and color accuracy, which are essential for clarity and detail but falls short for gaming because of its lower refresh rate, impacting the smoothness of fast-paced visuals. The HP Spectre x360 14 excels in both general use and engineering with its high-resolution display and wide color gamut, ensuring precise colors and sharp text, but like the ASUS, it's not optimized for gaming due to a less than ideal refresh rate, making it less fluid for fast-action games. Both laptops aren't suited for gaming or 3D due to refresh rates that can't keep up with the demands of those applications that require quick image changes without ghosting or lag.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the HP Spectre x360 14 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
"The numbers don’t lie — the HP Spectre x360 14 (2024) is a star, and a hell of a one at that. From performance to battery life, this machine is a dream. But why didn’t I give it a perfect score? Well, I wish the display performed better and that there were more ports to go around. If you’re itching for someone a little cheaper that offers a brighter display and significantly more battery life, I can only recommend the MacBook Pro 14 as a suitable substitute. Otherwise, the HP Spectre x360 14 (2024) is the perfect choice for those who want a reliable premium laptop."
