If you need a laptop predominantly for gaming or intensive 3D or machine learning tasks, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 with its higher-end hardware might serve you better despite its higher price. It offers a powerful processor and a superior graphics card, which would make it ideal for those purposes. However, it's heavier and less portable than the HP Omen 16. The HP Omen 16, while less expensive, has newer but less powerful hardware and may suffice for general use and less demanding engineering tasks. It also offers slightly better battery life and is more portable due to its lighter weight. Both laptops have similar screen sizes and resolutions, but the Omen's screen has a higher refresh rate, which could enhance the gaming and video viewing experience. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a better screen than the HP Omen 16 for gaming and AI, and content creation, while the HP Omen 16 has a better screen for content creation.
For general use, both laptops would offer clear, sharp images due to their high resolution and bright displays, making them suitable for everyday tasks such as browsing and video streaming. In engineering and design, professionals would appreciate the wide color gamuts of both laptops, ensuring accurate color reproduction for tasks like photo editing and CAD software. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rates on these laptops would result in less fluid motion, which could detract from the immersive experience that high-paced games and interactive 3D applications can offer.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the HP Omen 16 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
