The Asus ROG Strix G16 is designed for high-end gaming and demanding tasks, offering superior performance and a robust build but at a higher price and less portability due to its size and weight. In contrast, the MSI Modern 14 is more affordable, lightweight, and suitable for everyday use and light work, with better portability and battery life but not as powerful for gaming or heavy applications. Choose the Asus if you prioritize gaming or demanding software over portability and cost, and the MSI if you need a budget-friendly, portable laptop for general use. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G16 offers vibrant and clear images due to its high resolution and bright display making it ideal for general tasks and detailed engineering work, but its lower refresh rate detracts from gaming where smooth motion is crucial. The MSI Modern 14's fair screen quality with moderate brightness and resolution suffices for everyday use and basic design work but lacks the advanced color range professionals may require. For gaming and 3D work, both laptops fall short as their screens don't provide the high refresh rates necessary for fluid movement and immersive experiences.

"With the mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, the Asus ROG Stix G16 hits the sweet spot between performance and cooling. The G16 also does not have to shy away from direct comparison with its supposedly stronger family member, the ROG Strix Scar 18 with its RTX 4090, as most benchmarks of the two laptops are very close to each other. Moreover, the G16 should be significantly cheaper. Depending on the supplier, the price difference here could be almost US$ 2,000. In the 2023 model series, Asus has significantly leveled out the differences between the two high-end lines."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
