The ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition is often somewhat less expensive and offers a solid balance of performance for general use and gaming with good battery life. However, at 15.6 inches with an AMD Ryzen CPU and GPU, it may not perform as well in certain engineering tasks or advanced 3D rendering compared to the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17. The Scar 17, with its larger 17.3-inch display and Intel i9 CPU paired with an Nvidia RTX GPU, is geared more for intensive gaming and demanding applications, but comes at a premium price and has reduced portability due to its larger size and weight. If gaming and high-end performance are important, consider the Scar 17, but for cost efficiency and good all-around performance, the G15 could be more suitable. Give Feedback

Tom's Hardware

Andrew E. Freedman | August 2022
"The Asus ROG Strix G15, as the first in a line of "AMD Advantage"-branded notebooks, is a statement that yes, you can get a premium AMD gaming notebook. Maybe you can't have it all, but you can get pretty close. The ROG Strix G15's combination of the AMD Ryzen 5900HX and Radeon RX 6800M, as well as other technologies that take advantage of them, make a potent, thin gaming machine. Powerful Dolby Atmos speakers and long battery life when you aren't gaming are nice bonuses."

Allen Ngo | May 2021
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
