The ASUS ROG Flow X13, being much more expensive, offers higher performance with a powerful AMD Ryzen processor and RTX graphics, ideal for intensive tasks like 3D work, machine learning, or gaming. Its 2-in-1 convertible design increases versatility, allowing you to use it as a tablet or a laptop. However, it might be less portable due to its weight. On the other hand, the Dell Latitude 14 7490 is a budget-friendly choice, sufficient for general use and less demanding engineering work. It offers a traditional laptop experience with lower specs, which should yield better battery life but less suitability for high-end tasks. If price is a crucial factor and your work doesn't demand high computing power, the Dell might suit your needs, while if performance and gaming capability are priorities, you should consider the ASUS despite its higher cost and possibly lower portability. NotebookCheck

Sebastian Bade | February 2021
"The Asus ROG Flow X13 is not an off-the-shelf convertible. This quickly becomes clear when you take a closer look at the technical specs. The AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS is a state-of-the-art SoC with 8 cores and 16 threads, which also makes the 2-in-1 interesting as a work device. With 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, gamers are also well taken care of. The dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q fits well into the overall concept and ensures a solid 3D performance. With the eGPU dock, which is equipped with a GeForce RTX 3080, the small convertible transforms into a full-fledged desktop replacement in terms of performance."

LaptopMag

Henry T. Casey | April 2018
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
