If you prioritize long battery life and higher screen refresh rates for smoother visuals, choose the Apple MacBook Pro 14 with its 17-hour usage time and 120Hz display. However, you'll sacrifice some portability and general performance compared to the Dell XPS 13 Plus, which offers higher RAM capacity, potentially better for multitasking and intensive tasks despite its 10-hour battery life. The Dell's OLED touchscreen and lighter weight also make it more portable, but it may not manage heat as efficiently as the MacBook Pro. For engineering, 3D, or machine learning, neither laptop is optimal for intensive gaming but can perform moderately well in other demanding tasks. Give Feedback

The Apple MacBook Pro 14 has a better screen than the Dell XPS 13 Plus for general use, AI, and engineering and design.
The Apple MacBook Pro 14's display, known for its high resolution, exceptional brightness, and wide color gamut, offers sharp visuals and vivid colors, making it optimal for professionals in engineering and design who value color accuracy for their work. In contrast, while the Dell XPS 13 Plus also offers high resolution and excellent color reproduction, appealing to users in engineering and design, it may fall short in brightness compared to the MacBook Pro. However, neither laptop is ideal for 3D work or gaming, as both lack the high refresh rates preferred for those activities, which can hinder the smoothness and responsiveness of on-screen action.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 14 (Late 2023) and the Dell XPS 13 Plus compare to other laptops
"In the Apple MacBook Pro 14 2023, the M2 Pro is slowed down. From the improved 5nm process, the new M2 Pro is a very solid upgrade. Graphics performance has increased by about 25% in tandem with a clear improvement in efficiency. The processor has also seen a performance leap of up to 20%, but this is accompanied by an increase in consumption of up to 25%. Fundamentally, Apple its maintaining its advantage over AMD and Intel, particularly in optimized applications where the results are very good in view of the comparatively low power consumption."
"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
