The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) offers a good balance between performance and portability, with a high-quality build and a long battery life suitable for general use and light creative tasks, but its gaming capabilities are limited. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i, while less portable due to its increased size and weight, boasts powerful performance for intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering software, with the added bonus of being well-suited for gaming thanks to its dedicated Nvidia graphics card. If you prioritize performance for demanding applications and gaming, the Legion Slim 5i is the better choice; however, if you prefer a more portable device with a strong build and a focus on general productivity and media, the MacBook Pro would suit you better. The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i for engineering and design, while the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i has a better screen for gaming and AI, and software development.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) boasts a high-resolution display and impressive brightness, making it ideal for general use, and its wide color gamuts cater to engineering and design professionals needing precision in color work; however, its refresh rate may not be optimal for 3D applications, which require smoother motion to be effective. The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i also offers a high-quality screen for general tasks with ample resolution and luminance, and while it presents good color accuracy for design, it falls short in gaming and 3D scenarios due to its less-than-ideal refresh rate. Therefore, when choosing between these two, consider how critical smooth motion and rapid refreshes are to your specific needs in 3D contexts.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 acknowledges that a gaming laptop doesn’t have to be as thick as possible and can still ensure adequate cooling when the muscles need flexing. To this end, in the Slim 5 Gen 8, it finds a neat balance of refined, trimmed-down design that still lets its internals cruise (even above their max power ratings). Lenovo then added in some high-end build quality with an altogether excellent keyboard that’s useful for both work and play."
