If you prioritize a lightweight, compact machine with longer battery life for everyday tasks or creative work such as photo and video editing, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is a suitable choice. It runs MacOS, which might be preferable if you're accustomed to Apple's ecosystem. However, if you require a larger screen, more storage space, and extra RAM for multitasking or more demanding tasks, the HP 17" Laptop offers these advantages along with Windows 11. The HP is also more affordable but is bulkier and has a shorter battery life, which may make it less convenient for travel. Neither is ideal for intensive gaming. Give Feedback

The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is good for engineering and design, while the HP 17" Laptop is only fair.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) stands out in engineering and design use due to its high-resolution IPS screen and powerful integrated Apple M2 GPU, which is beneficial for designing tasks, whereas the HP 17" Laptop, with its larger screen and AMD Ryzen processor with Vega 8 graphics, provides a good balance between performance and visual real estate, coupled with sufficient RAM for multitasking and engineering software, albeit with less portability due to its larger size and shorter battery life. Both offer IPS displays for good screen quality, but the MacBook Pro's higher screen pixel density and color accuracy are advantages for design detail, while the HP's larger screen can be useful for multitasking and bigger project views.

The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a high-resolution Retina display known for its brightness and color accuracy, making it great for general use and engineering tasks where clarity and color representation are essential. In contrast, the HP 17" Laptop may have a larger screen, but its resolution, brightness, and color accuracy might not match the MacBook's, leading to a less vivid experience for general tasks and precision work like design. However, for activities that rely heavily on high refresh rates like 3D work, the MacBook Pro's standard refresh rate limits its capability, while the HP isn't built with the screen specifications that cater well to the demands of gaming or 3D rendering either.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the HP 17" Laptop compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
