If you prioritize a high-quality display, superior build quality, and better overall performance for demanding tasks like video editing or software development, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is a strong option. However, it tends to be more expensive and has a limited variety of ports. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 is generally more affordable, has a variety of ports for connectivity, and is lighter, making it more portable. Although it doesn't match the MacBook Pro's performance, it's sufficient for everyday tasks like browsing, office applications, and streaming. If long battery life is important to you, the MacBook typically outperforms budget Windows laptops in this area. Consider the MacBook Pro if you are invested in the Apple ecosystem and require its specific software capabilities, but if cost and portability are your main concerns, the Vivobook Go could be a better fit. "The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The lack of a backlit keyboard in this price segment shouldn't sway the buyer the other way. However, it still comes down to user preference. The Vivobook Go 14 is a decent laptop in an extremely competitive price segment. A few omissions are a part of the balancing to reach the price segment. The Asus Vivobook Go 14 is a rare find when it comes to the price to performance ratio."
