If you prioritize a sleek design, a user-friendly operating system, and long battery life for everyday tasks like browsing and office applications, the MacBook Pro 13 would be a suitable choice and also more budget-friendly. However, if you need high performance for gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning and are willing to invest more, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, with its stronger graphics and processing power, would be better despite being heavier and potentially having a shorter battery life. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 has a better screen than the Apple MacBook Pro 13 for gaming and AI, and software development.
The MacBook Pro's Retina display offers vibrant colors and high resolution, making it excellent for general use and detailed work in engineering and design thanks to its wide color gamut, but its standard refresh rate limits its effectiveness for 3D applications which often require smoother visuals. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 provides similarly high-quality visuals, strong color reproduction for general use and precision tasks in engineering, but it may disappoint in gaming and 3D scenarios where a higher refresh rate is crucial for fluid motion. Both laptops have compromises, with the MacBook Pro leaning towards professional creative work while the Zephyrus ostensibly targets gaming but may fall short for fast-paced 3D environments.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 offers an impressive package. Asus improves the performance of the new 2023 ROG Zephyrus G14 considerable and offers a very powerful 14-inch notebook with plenty of performance for gamers and content creators. The high-quality chassis is unchanged from last year, but is now equipped with the latest and greatest from AMD as well as Nvidia. The Mini-LED panel also puts up a convincing performance in pretty much every regard, even though the MacBook Pro 14 still offers superior brightness values. The panel works extremely well for gaming and the included color profiles offer very accurate colors."
