If you prioritize a lightweight, portable machine and long battery life for work or general use, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is designed for you, and its fanless design means silent operation. On the other hand, if your focus is on high-performance tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning, then the ASUS ROG Strix G17 will serve you better with its powerful processor and dedicated graphics card, although it's heavier and has a significantly shorter battery life. The MacBook is generally preferred for its build quality and keyboard, while the Strix G17 will deliver much higher performance for demanding software and multitasking. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is good.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 outperforms the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) for engineering and design due to its superior CPU and GPU combo—AMD Ryzen 9 and Nvidia RTX 4060—along with double the RAM, essential for handling complex tasks and running demanding applications smoothly. While the MacBook Pro offers excellent screen quality and is more portable, the Strix G17's hefty build is justified by its top-tier performance which is pivotal for engineering and graphics-intensive work.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Apple MacBook Pro 13 for general use, gaming and AI, and software development.
For general use, the MacBook Pro's high-resolution Retina display with bright and vibrant colors provides excellent clarity and comfort for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, while the ASUS has a comparable display quality enough for these tasks as well. Engineers and designers would appreciate the MacBook Pro's expansive color gamut, ensuring accurate color representation for nuanced design work, a feature that the ASUS matches to meet the demands of professional creative software. However, for 3D applications and gaming where fast-moving visuals are critical, the ASUS ROG Strix G17, with its high refresh rate, would be more suitable than the MacBook Pro, which doesn't prioritize refresh rate and may not provide as smooth of an experience in fast-paced scenarios.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the ASUS ROG Strix G17 compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
