If you value a balance of performance for everyday tasks with the added benefit of a lightweight design and longer battery life, consider the MacBook Pro; however, if you’re focused on gaming, 3D rendering, or intense computational tasks and don't mind the extra cost and weight, the ASUS ROG Strix could be the better choice despite its typically shorter battery life. The ASUS ROG Strix G16 has a better screen than the Apple MacBook Pro 13 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
If you prioritize a vivid display for tasks like document editing, web browsing, and watching videos, the MacBook Pro is a top choice as it offers excellent resolution and brightness, ensuring a crisp and clear viewing experience. For professionals in engineering or design who need accuracy in colors, both the MacBook and the ASUS offer wide color gamuts, providing the range necessary for detailed and color-critical work. However, for enthusiasts in 3D applications or gaming where fluid motion is key, the ASUS could provide a smoother experience due to its higher refresh rate, but its screen might not be as sharp or well-suited for these activities as other specialized gaming laptops.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"With the mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, the Asus ROG Stix G16 hits the sweet spot between performance and cooling. The G16 also does not have to shy away from direct comparison with its supposedly stronger family member, the ROG Strix Scar 18 with its RTX 4090, as most benchmarks of the two laptops are very close to each other. Moreover, the G16 should be significantly cheaper. Depending on the supplier, the price difference here could be almost US$ 2,000. In the 2023 model series, Asus has significantly leveled out the differences between the two high-end lines."
