Choosing between the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) and the LG Gram 16 largely comes down to the operating system preference, performance expectations, and specific needs in terms of RAM and processor. The MacBook Air with the Apple M2 chip has integrated graphics and favors users looking for seamless macOS integration, while the LG Gram, with its Intel processor and Iris Xe graphics, might be more appealing for Windows users. The LG Gram offers twice the RAM of the MacBook Air, which can be significant for multitasking and more demanding applications. In terms of portability, both are lightweight, but the LG Gram is slightly lighter. Both laptops are well-suited for general use with high-quality screens, but if your work involves intensive engineering tasks or 3D rendering, the MacBook Air might offer better performance there, despite having less RAM, due to its specialized chip design. Battery life is comparable; however, consider that Apple's ecosystem allows for more seamless integration with other Apple devices, which might be a deciding factor if you already own other Apple products. The Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) and LG Gram 16 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) is fair for 3D because it has its own M2 GPU, which can handle moderate 3D tasks but many popular games don't run on its MacOS. Meanwhile, the LG Gram 16 is rated similarly for gaming and 3D partly due to its capable integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, but like the MacBook, it has a standard screen refresh rate which is not ideal for high-end gaming which demands faster refresh rates.

How the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) and the LG Gram 16 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air 15 is boringly good. The new MacBook Air 15 is a very good, but also boring device, because apart from the larger screen and the higher price, there are no differences compared to the smaller MacBook Air M2 from last year. No new processor, no additional ports, just the usual basic hardware - but the overall package is extremely good and it simply works. Above all, the lack of fans is an aspect that should not be underestimated in everyday use. In our opinion, the Air could be a lot better, but Apple goes easy on itself here."
"The LG Gram 16 is a lightweight device with stability issues. The LG Gram 16Z90Q with a Core i7-1260P is made with portability in mind and places less of a focus on users with high demands on performance. The compact and light chassis is particularly practical when you are on the go. The device is not only comfortably small and lightweight, it also boasts a great battery life. When connected to mains, on the other hand, the 16-inch device is rather disappointing. The standard cooling mode causes extreme volatility in terms of CPU, SSD and iGPU performance. The meager stability of the chassis may also put off some potential buyers."
