The Apple MacBook Air (2022) is typically less expensive with better battery life, a higher-resolution screen, and a lightweight design suitable for portability and general use, with the added benefit of silent operation due to no fans. On the other hand, the MSI GF65 Thin, generally more expensive, offers a more powerful GPU ideal for gaming, 3D rendering, and intensive engineering or machine learning tasks, but it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, limiting its portability compared to the MacBook Air. The Apple MacBook Air (2022) is good for engineering and design, while the MSI GF65 Thin is only fair.
The Apple MacBook Air (2022) is favored in engineering and design due to its Apple M2 CPU and integrated GPU that ensure efficient performance, especially with a high-quality IPS screen reflecting accurate colors and brightness; conversely, the MSI GF65 Thin, with its powerful Intel i5 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, excels in demanding applications, paired with a larger, high-refresh-rate screen, yet it is heavier and might have a louder operating noise. While the MacBook provides better portability and silent operation, the MSI offers superior gaming performance and is more suited for GPU-intensive tasks despite its bulkier form and potential for more noise during operation.

The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the MSI GF65 Thin for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Air offers a high-resolution display with vibrant colors and high brightness, making it excellent for everyday tasks and professional design work due to strong color accuracy and wide color gamut support. On the other hand, MSI GF65 Thin's screen might not be as bright or color-accurate, making it less ideal for design but still serviceable for everyday use. However, neither laptop has a high refresh rate display, which is critical for smooth 3D rendering and gaming, so both may fall short for users with those specific needs.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2022) and the MSI GF65 Thin compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
