The Acer Swift X has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" for software development, and content creation, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" has a better screen for general use.
The Acer Swift X offers a high-resolution display with vibrant colors and ample brightness, making it well-suited for tasks like browsing and document editing which are common in general use, while its wide color gamut supports the precision required for engineering and design work. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 shares similar traits with a sharp and bright display that delivers a good experience for general tasks and professional design applications due to its accurate color reproduction. However, both laptops have screens with limited refresh rates, which is less ideal for gaming or 3D modeling where smoother motion and quicker refreshes can be crucial for an optimal experience.

The Acer Swift X (2022) and Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Acer Swift X (2022) is more suited for gaming and 3D applications primarily because it houses a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU which outperforms the integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU found in the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13". Both laptops have similar refresh rates which are adequate for casual gaming, but the dedicated GPU in the Acer will deliver better fps and more detailed graphics, making it the better choice for more graphics-intensive tasks, despite the Surface Laptop 5's slightly higher screen pixel density and brightness which may offer a better viewing experience but not improved gaming performance.

How the Acer Swift X (2022) and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
