The Acer Swift 14 offers better performance due to its higher-end processor and more RAM, making it a superior choice for intensive tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering projects. It's also considerably lighter, enhancing portability. However, it comes at a higher price. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 has a larger screen, which may be better for multitasking or if you prefer larger displays. It also has longer battery life, making it more suitable for extended use away from power outlets and comes at a lower cost. While its performance is less than the Acer, it should still be adequate for general use and less demanding engineering work. Both models have a backlit keyboard and touchscreen, but the Acer offers a higher resolution and color accuracy, making it better suited for tasks where visual detail and color quality are important. The Acer Swift 14 is very good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" is good.
The Acer Swift 14 excels in general use thanks to a strong CPU, ample RAM, high-resolution display with excellent color coverage, all in a light and thin package with a high portability score and long battery life, although it comes with a steeper price. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" offers good general use with a reliable processor, decent RAM, and good battery life but settles for a lower resolution and color quality screen, which is reflected in its more affordable price.

The Acer Swift 14 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" are both only fair for gaming and AI, though the Acer Swift 14 is somewhat better.
The Acer Swift 14 offers a higher screen quality with better resolution, color coverage, and a more powerful GPU, making it better suited for gaming and 3D graphics than the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15", which has a lower quality GPU and screen, despite both having the same refresh rate. The Lenovo, however, might offer slightly better battery life but at the cost of reduced graphics performance and screen detail.

The Acer Swift 14 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" is only fair.
The Acer Swift 14's superior processing power and doubled RAM make it well-suited for demanding engineering and design software, while its high-resolution IPS display offers better screen quality for precise visual work. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 has less storage and less powerful integrated graphics, which may limit performance with engineering applications, though it also has a quality IPS display and longer battery life, but its lower screen resolution and color accuracy could be less ideal for design tasks.

The Acer Swift 14 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Swift 14's screen stands out for general use and engineering with its high resolution and brightness, making text sharp and colors vivid, which are crucial for detailed work and media consumption. Its wide color gamuts ensure that designers working with color-sensitive projects see accurate representations. In contrast, for gaming and 3D applications, its lower refresh rate may not deliver as smooth an experience as gamers desire, whereas resolution and panel type, while adequate, don't prioritize the high frame rates gaming often demands.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Acer Swift 14 is good for school use. Its compact design makes it easy to carry around, and its battery lasts easily through a typical school day. You can configure the laptop with an FHD+ or QHD+ display; both look sharp and get bright enough to combat glare. The keyboard feels tactile but can be a little tiring to type on over an extended period, and while the touchpad is small, it's responsive to all movements and gestures. Its Intel 13th Gen. CPU can handle nearly every type of workload; however, its integrated graphics perform poorly, so it isn't ideal for students in technical fields like 3D graphics."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
