If you prioritize a higher resolution display and a lighter build, the Acer Swift 14 stands out as a more portable choice with better screen quality, but it comes at a higher price. It also has a more powerful processor which makes it suitable for intensive tasks, albeit with a smaller battery life reduction compared to the Dell. On the other hand, the Dell Inspiron 14 7420 is less expensive and includes an extra USB-C port, but offers less storage and a lower resolution display, making it a more budget-friendly choice for general use and less demanding engineering applications. Both laptops feature similar RAM, touchscreens, and lack dedicated graphics cards, which limits their suitability for heavy 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming. Give Feedback

The Acer Swift 14 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 14 7420 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Acer Swift 14 excels because its screen offers high resolution and brightness, providing clear and vivid images for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming. The screen's superior color gamut coverage in the Acer makes it ideal for engineering and design, ensuring more accurate and diverse color reproduction which is crucial for professional-grade graphics work. However, for 3D applications and gaming, where smooth motion is key, the Dell Inspiron 14's lower refresh rate makes both it and the Acer less suitable, as neither can provide the fluid visuals that gamers and 3D designers seek.

How the Acer Swift 14 and the Dell Inspiron 14 7420 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Acer Swift 14 is good for school use. Its compact design makes it easy to carry around, and its battery lasts easily through a typical school day. You can configure the laptop with an FHD+ or QHD+ display; both look sharp and get bright enough to combat glare. The keyboard feels tactile but can be a little tiring to type on over an extended period, and while the touchpad is small, it's responsive to all movements and gestures. Its Intel 13th Gen. CPU can handle nearly every type of workload; however, its integrated graphics perform poorly, so it isn't ideal for students in technical fields like 3D graphics."
"Notable qualities of the Inspiron 7420 2-in-1 include the 16:10 aspect ratio, strong hinges, 12th gen Intel CPU with optional GeForce MX graphics, and easy serviceability. Such features would typically cost hundreds of dollars more on higher-end alternatives from competing manufacturers. The value proposition is therefore relatively high for users looking to maximize bang for the buck."
