The Acer Predator Helios 300 is more wallet-friendly and features an Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics, suitable for demanding tasks like gaming and engineering, albeit with lower storage capacity. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro offers a higher resolution display, a newer AMD processor, and a more powerful Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, better suited for 3D rendering and intensive gaming at a somewhat higher price. While both have similar battery life and are relatively heavy, thus not particularly portable, the Lenovo has a slightly better portability score and a superior screen, making it a better choice for design and professional work that benefits from higher screen quality and detail. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Predator Helios 300 is good.
The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is rated higher for engineering and design due to its more powerful AMD Ryzen CPU, superior Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, and higher resolution screen with better color coverage, which are crucial for demanding tasks and visual clarity. In contrast, the Acer Predator Helios 300, while still capable with an Intel i7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, offers lower storage capacity, a less sharp screen, and less color accuracy, which could impact performance and design work, though it may come at a more attractive price point.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 has a better screen than the Acer Predator Helios 300 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 offers a solid balance for general tasks and precision work in engineering and design with respectable resolution and brightness, ensuring clear and vibrant visuals, yet its lower refresh rate might not be ideal for the smooth rendering needed in 3D gaming. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 excels in screen fidelity for both everyday activities and professional design work, providing wide color coverage for accurate hues, but similarly falls short for gaming due to its less optimal refresh rate. Both laptops, while excellent for productivity and creative software, won't provide the best gaming experience where higher refresh rates are crucial for fluid motion.

How the Acer Predator Helios 300 and the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Predator Helios 300 review is an overclocked gaming laptop with a good display. The Predator is large, heavy, and loud, but also offers plenty of performance according to gamers. An overclocked gaming laptop - or its user - also has to struggle with the usual disadvantages we mentioned above. On the other hand, overclocking is optional, and those who like it quieter and can live with a few less frames per second can also switch to the significantly more moderate Standard mode. Then the Helios 300 won't be any louder than the competitors."
"It doesn't quite match its Legion Pro 7i sibling as an Editors' Choice winner, but Lenovo's AMD-powered Legion Pro 5 Gen 8 is a stylish, well-built gaming laptop with solid performance at both 1080p and its sharper native resolution. It's cheaper than some comparably equipped machines and better than some similarly priced ones. That's a recipe for success, even without its frequent availability of discounts or sales. A brighter screen and longer battery life would be nice, but even as is the Legion Pro 5 earns a solid recommendation."
