The Acer Nitro 5 17 offers stronger performance suitable for intensive gaming and engineering tasks due to its more powerful processor and graphics card, making it ideal for demanding applications and multitasking. However, it is heavier, which impacts portability, and the battery life is only modest. The Gigabyte G5 is more portable due to its lighter weight and smaller size, but it comes with less storage and memory, a less robust processor and GPU, making it less suitable for heavy-duty tasks yet still competent for general use and moderate gaming. If you frequently travel and prioritize a light laptop, the Gigabyte G5 is more convenient, but for higher performance and better handling of complex tasks at the expense of weight and size, the Acer Nitro 5 17 is the better option. The Acer Nitro 5 17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte G5 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Nitro 5 17 offers a larger, brighter display with higher resolution, making it suitable for everyday tasks and visual work in engineering and design where clarity and color representation are important. However, it falls short for gaming and 3D applications due to its lower refresh rate, not providing the smooth visuals typically desired for these purposes. Conversely, the Gigabyte G5 has a display that meets the basic requirements for both everyday use and technical tasks, but similarly to the Nitro, it doesn't cater well to gaming and 3D due to its poor refresh rate.

How the Acer Nitro 5 17 and the Gigabyte G5 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 17 is a solid mid-range gamer. The Nitro 5 does not belong to the top group of RTX 3070 notebooks: Compared with the RTX 3070 notebooks tested so far, the computer delivers below-average frame rates - this is due to the 100-watt TGP. The GPU performance can be increased a bit with a firmware update. The device scores with a high level of CPU performance. Throttling is not a concern. CPU and GPU can produce their performance constantly. The laptop heats up moderately under load. The noise development is on the usual class level."
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
