Selecting between the Acer Nitro 5 17 and the ASUS Zenbook 14 depends on your priorities. If intensive gaming, 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering tasks are your focus, and you don't mind carrying a heavier laptop, the Acer Nitro 5 17 with its powerful graphics card is better equipped for these activities. However, if portability, a lighter design, and a smaller screen are more important, the ASUS Zenbook 14 may suit you better. Keep in mind, though, that it has less storage capacity and lower overall performance which might not be suited for demanding applications. Give Feedback

The Acer Nitro 5 17 is very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Zenbook 14 is only fair.
The Acer Nitro 5 17 excels in engineering and design because it features a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, high-performing Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU, and ample RAM, catering to demanding software needs, but it may be less portable due to its larger size and weight. Conversely, the ASUS Zenbook 14, while more portable, has a less powerful AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, a lower-end Nvidia MX450 GPU, and is equipped with less RAM, which makes it adequate but less ideal for intensive tasks.

The Acer Nitro 5 17 has a better screen than the ASUS Zenbook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Acer Nitro 5 17's larger screen with higher resolution and brightness makes for a clearer and more vibrant viewing experience compared to the ASUS Zenbook 14, which has a smaller and less bright display. In engineering and design, the Acer Nitro 5 17 and ASUS Zenbook 14 both provide accurate color reproduction necessary for precision work, although neither may fully satisfy professionals who require the widest color gamuts. For gaming and 3D applications, the ASUS Zenbook 14's lower refresh rate limits the smoothness of fast-moving visuals, much like the Acer Nitro 5 17, which also falls short in this aspect, making neither ideal for high-frame-rate gaming or intensive 3D rendering.

"The Acer Nitro 5 17 is a solid mid-range gamer. The Nitro 5 does not belong to the top group of RTX 3070 notebooks: Compared with the RTX 3070 notebooks tested so far, the computer delivers below-average frame rates - this is due to the 100-watt TGP. The GPU performance can be increased a bit with a firmware update. The device scores with a high level of CPU performance. Throttling is not a concern. CPU and GPU can produce their performance constantly. The laptop heats up moderately under load. The noise development is on the usual class level."
"Users who travel frequently and are looking for a portable laptop are in the right place with the Asus ZenBook 14. The sleek case is extremely light (1.2 kg) and surprisingly thin (1.5 cm). Outdoor use is also enjoyable thanks to the bright Full HD display, which is something that can rarely be said about laptops with TN or IPS panels. The excellent battery life complements this as well. Longer trips are no problem with the ZenBook 14. Another plus point is the high-performance Ryzen 7 5700U, which often leaves the Intel competition in the dust thanks to its large number of cores."
