The Acer Nitro 5 17 offers robust performance particularly for gaming and engineering with a high-end GPU, larger screen, and more impressive refresh rates, at the cost of being heavier and having a lower battery life, making it less portable. On the other hand, the Acer Swift X (2022) is more lightweight, offers better battery life, and benefits from a higher resolution display, which makes it more suitable for on-the-go use and general tasks, but it's usually more expensive and less suited for intensive 3D, machine learning, or gaming tasks due to its mid-range GPU. The Acer Nitro 5 17 has a better screen than the Acer Swift X for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Acer Swift X has a better screen for content creation.
If screen quality is a deciding factor, the Acer Nitro 5 17's larger screen size may benefit general use with more space for multitasking, and its solid resolution and brightness contribute to a clear and vibrant display, but for gaming, its lower refresh rate could detract from smooth visuals in fast-paced games. In comparison, the Acer Swift X, although smaller, offers good color accuracy and range vital for professionals in engineering and design, ensuring that the colors you work with are represented faithfully. However, both laptops don't prioritize high refresh rates, making them less ideal for 3D applications and gaming where fluidity and responsiveness are key.

How the Acer Nitro 5 17 and the Acer Swift X (2022) compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 17 is a solid mid-range gamer. The Nitro 5 does not belong to the top group of RTX 3070 notebooks: Compared with the RTX 3070 notebooks tested so far, the computer delivers below-average frame rates - this is due to the 100-watt TGP. The GPU performance can be increased a bit with a firmware update. The device scores with a high level of CPU performance. Throttling is not a concern. CPU and GPU can produce their performance constantly. The laptop heats up moderately under load. The noise development is on the usual class level."
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
