The MSI Raider GE76 is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is good.
The MSI Raider GE76 is equipped with a more powerful processor and larger amount of RAM, ensuring smoother multitasking and better performance for demanding applications, which along with its superior screen quality due to a higher resolution, brightness, and color coverage, makes it very good for general use. However, the Acer Aspire 5 17, while slightly less performant, offers a balance that includes strong battery life and lighter weight, making it more portable and thus suitable for users needing good general use capabilities without the need for the highest performance specs.

The MSI Raider GE76 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is equipped with a less powerful Iris Xe graphics chip and a screen that refreshes 60 times per second, which provide a fair gaming and 3D experience but may struggle with highly demanding games. On the other hand, the MSI Raider GE76 boasts a top-end Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti GPU and a screen with a much higher 240 refreshes per second, delivering an excellent experience with smoother visuals and rendering capabilities for the most intensive gaming and 3D applications.

The MSI Raider GE76 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the MSI Raider GE76 offer satisfactory displays with clear resolutions and adequate brightness, making them suitable for everyday tasks. In the context of engineering and design, the MSI Raider GE76 excels due to its higher coverage of professional color gamuts, ensuring more accurate color reproduction, whereas the Acer's display isn't as vibrant or precise for those needs. However, for gaming and 3D applications where a high refresh rate is crucial for smooth visuals, both laptops fall short, as they don't prioritize the refresh rate necessary for those immersive experiences.

"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The MSI Raider GE76: with Alder Lake and RTX 3080 Ti to gaming heaven. Yes, MSI could improve some aspects (like the quality of the webcam), but the manufacturer offers a very convincing and balanced overall package. The biggest advantage is definitely the immense performance potential. The combination of Core i9-12900HK, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 32 GB DDR5 RAM and two NVMe SSDs offers a lot of performance for the next couple of years and plenty of power for 3D applications. Most titles would run smoothly on an external 4K screen no matter the quality preset. We came away impressed with the integrated 360 Hz panel's fast response times and good color accuracy."
